This diagram was found on Khan Academy and demonstrates how there are many redundant paths that connect internet devices in Europe and North America. Each of the colored paths is a physical cable. If any of the cables get damaged, data can be routed across another path.
This diagram contains a lot of helpful information for companies to design a fault-tolerant network for their offices or even for an ISP to design a network to support their customers.
